WHAT TO EXPECT
“To all who are spiritually weary and seek rest; to all who mourn and long for comfort; to all who struggle and desire victory; to all who sin and need a Saviour; to all who are strangers and want fellowship; to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness; and to whoever will come— this church opens wide her doors and offers welcome in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Words of Welcome at every Sunday service
WHAT TO EXPECT ON A SUNDAY
At Free Grace Vernon, we desire to be a church where everyone is welcome no matter what their background, questions or their struggles. You may be on a spiritual journey, with many questions. You are welcome to bring your honest questions and real problems into our community that is open to the skeptic, the seeker, the new Believer and the struggling Christian. Your presence is expected and welcomed!
CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS
Sunday School is provided for ages 3-8 during the sermon (bible teaching).
We also welcome children in our service, if parents choose to keep them in during the whole service. A baby & toddler room is also available with service audio streamed in.
FORMAL OR INFORMAL?
The choice is yours! Please feel free to dress in a way that is comfortable for you, your friends or your family.
We don't want you to feel like you need to look a certain way. We don't have a dress code at Free Grace.
OUR SERVICE
We share the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper every week, as we believe this practice, ordained by Christ, is a means by which Christ imparts his grace to those who put their trust and faith in Him.
Here is a sample order of service with explanation:
EXAMPLE ORDER OF SERVICE
Call to worship Words of Scripture God uses to invite us to worship together
Adoration Corporate singing is our thankful response to God's greatness & grace in Christ
Scripture Reading Usually tied to the theme of our service
Confession of Sin Acknowledgment of our sin and need for grace--(corporate & silent confession)
Assurance of Pardon The promise that God, for Christ’s sake, would freely pardon all our sins as offered to us in the Gospel
Understanding Our Faith An expression of the church's most basic and deeply held beliefs
Prayers of the People Public prayer for the church & world followed by the Lord’s Prayer. This is our expression of dependence on God's grace.
The Lord’s Prayer Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Sermon Scripture Reading & Instruction
The Apostles’ Creed Historic summary of the orthodox Christian faith
I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
The Lord’s Supper Communion is celebrating the grace of union with Christ & His people
Benediction Charge & blessing to live for and in the light of God's grace
